What do our practices look like?

Our therapists use a variety of techniques and modalities to help address anxiety symptoms. The most common theories utilized include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: a strategy-based approach that works to change behaviours and thinking patterns, helping you to develop problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy: is a practice that believes if you bring together two opposites in therapy – acceptance and change – you can bring about better results than either one alone. DBT works to change negative thinking patterns and pushes for positive behavioural change.
  • Exposure Therapy: is a treatment used to break patterns of avoidance and fear. Exposure to the feared objects or activities in a safe environment can help to diminish or eliminate fear.
  • Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy: a form of psychotherapy in which you identify, challenge, and eventually, replace, self-defeating thoughts and feelings
  • Mindfulness Techniques: a form of meditation, often involving breathing methods and guided imagery, in which you focus on total awareness of what you sense and feel in the moment.
