It’s so natural to experience overwhelm when there is a mismatch between our strengths and the world around us. And equally natural to want a little outside partnership in navigating that overwhelm. I offer trauma-informed psychotherapy that helps.
I think about health and happiness mostly through the lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy: a non-pathologizing, evidence-based approach to what is sometimes called “parts work”. I help clients bring compassion and curiosity inward, building relationships among their strengths, protective reflexes, and parts that are doing the hard work of carrying pain and trauma. Using IFS and other tools I help clients navigate overwhelm, life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, shame and guilt, relationship and family issues, sleep difficulties, pain and somatic issues, as well as chemical and behavioral addictions.
I work with clients of all backgrounds and identities. I am also happy to see clients who are managing neurological complexities or identify with aspects of neurodivergence (including ADHD, RSD, autism spectrum, learning disabilities, giftedness, and sensory processing challenges). My love of that work comes in part from my original training in clinical neuropsychology and 20 years of working with neurologically complex participants in brain imaging research.
