My approach is grounded in the belief that we are best understood within the context of our lives; shaped by relationships, identity, emotional history, culture, and lived experience. I view therapy as a supportive space to explore how emotions, relationships, identity, and the body are
interconnected, and how these pieces influence the way we move through life. I aim to create a warm, collaborative, and affirming space where you feel seen, respected, and supported as you explore growth and healing.

In sessions, I focus on understanding how patterns of connection, attachment, and emotional experience shape present-day challenges. I am especially interested in how people experience intimacy, communication, purpose, and meaning in their lives, as well as how emotional experiences are reflected both psychologically and physically. Alongside this relational work, I incorporate practical tools and structure from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation, self-awareness, and coping in everyday life.

I work with individuals and couples navigating relationship and communication challenges, anxiety and stress, identity exploration, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and life transitions. I am deeply committed to providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care and working with individuals and
couples navigating identity, intimacy, communication, and relational concerns. Drawing from feminist and multicultural perspectives, I believe personal experiences cannot be separated from social context, and I strive to help clients develop greater agency, authenticity, and connection.

I work with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and existential distress, including difficulties related to identity, meaning, relationships, and emotional regulation. Many of my clients feel stuck in repeating patterns. They may feel emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves or others, or unsure why certain relationships or internal struggles keep resurfacing. I also support individuals navigating the long-term effects of early attachment wounds, chronic stress, shame, and life transitions, helping them develop deeper self-understanding and emotional stability.

My approach is multimodal, relational, and trauma-informed, with a strong emphasis on understanding how past experiences shape present emotional and relational patterns. I take an active and engaged role in therapy, helping clients explore unconscious processes, defenses, and internal conflicts while fostering insight and emotional awareness. My work integrates psychodynamic therapy, attachment-based approaches, existential exploration, and mindfulness-informed practices, allowing space for both depth and reflection rather than surface-level symptom management.

Clients can expect a thoughtful, supportive, and non-judgmental space to explore difficult emotions, gain insight into longstanding patterns, and reconnect with a more authentic sense of self. Over time, many clients experience improved emotional regulation, more fulfilling relationships, reduced anxiety and depressive symptoms, and a stronger sense of meaning and agency in their lives. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together we will work toward helping you feel more grounded, integrated, and aligned with who you truly are.

I am a Latino, cisgender gay, able-bodied immigrant from Peru. My personal and professional experiences shape my approach to therapy, which is grounded in curiosity, empathy, compassion, and acceptance of our shared humanity. I believe growth is an ongoing process, and therapy can provide a meaningful space to better understand yourself, your relationships, and the patterns that shape your life.

In our work together, we will explore your relationships, family dynamics, goals, and coping strategies to help you feel more grounded and supported. My approach is collaborative and nonjudgmental, creating a safe space to explore your thoughts and emotions and to practice expressing them in ways that feel authentic and effective. I work with both individuals and couples, supporting clients as they navigate relational challenges and strengthen emotional connection.

With nearly two decades of counseling-related experience, I have worked with diverse communities, including Latinx and LGBTQ+ individuals and couples. I support clients around a wide range of concerns, including trauma, immigration, intimacy, grief, sex work, polyamorous and consensually non monogamous relationships, and other often-stigmatized or taboo topics, always within a respectful and affirming therapeutic space. I specialize in identity-related concerns and the ways unaddressed stress, pressure to conform, and past experiences can accumulate over time and feel overwhelming. I help clients release what keeps them anchored to the past or anxious about the future so they can feel more present
and connected.

Growing up queer in a heteronormative society deeply shaped my understanding of the challenges many people face around identity, self-acceptance, and relationships. My own experience in therapy was transformative and inspired me to pursue this work. In my couples work, I draw from training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method to help partners better understand their emotional patterns, improve communication, and build trust and connection. While therapy can be challenging and requires commitment, I also believe it can be empowering, affirming, and even enjoyable.

The path toward healing and change is rarely linear, but by reaching out, you are already taking a meaningful step forward. I would be honored to support you on your journey toward growth, healing, and greater well-being.

I am dedicated to creating a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and valued for who you are. I believe that therapy should be a place where your story is honored, where your pain, resilience, identity, and growth are all held with care.

I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University and hold a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Human Biology and Mental Health Studies from the University of Toronto. From an early age, I’ve been deeply curious about the human mind, how our behaviors, emotions, experiences, and biological makeup shape who we are and how we relate to the world. This intersection of mind and body continues to guide my therapeutic work.

With a background in counseling psychology and clinical experience, I support clients facing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity concerns, life transitions, and stress. I understand that life can feel overwhelming and isolating at times, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. My trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach draws from CBT, Emotion-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, and narrative therapy to help you process your experiences, build coping strategies, and reconnect with yourself.

Having lived in diverse countries and been immersed in multiple cultures, I bring a global lens and cultural sensitivity to therapy. My experiences have deepened my understanding of identity, belonging, and navigating cultural expectations. I strive to offer a nonjudgmental space where your voice, values, and background are fully respected and understood.

Healing takes time, but in therapy, you can begin to unpack what’s heavy, find clarity in confusion, and discover the strength that’s already within you. Together, we can work to make meaning of your experiences and help you move toward the life you want.

Every minute we spend shapes the tapestry of our future lived experiences, influencing our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in profound ways. Therapy serves as a space to closely examine these moments, delving into the nuances of our interactions, decisions, and responses. Whether exploring pivotal life events or everyday interactions, I believe therapy invites us to reflect on how every second contributes to our personal narrative and sense of self. By examining these moments up close, my objective is to empower clients to gain insight, heal from past wounds, and cultivate resilience as we navigate life’s complexities.

Specializing in both Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT) and Mental Health Counseling (MHC), I am passionate about helping clients consciously shape their future experiences with greater awareness and intention. This breadth of experience reflects my dedication to inclusivity and cultural competence. I subscribe to the belief that who we are and where we come from make us unique and dynamic individuals and because of this, honoring my client’s individuality is at the heart of my therapeutic philosophy. There are countless factors that shape an individual throughout their lifetime, and all deserve to be recognized. I believe that understanding these influences and examining how they have impacted us is the necessary key to providing meaningful and compassionate treatment. I aim to view my clients’ stories through an intersectional lens that explores how their different identities have come together to influence their distinctive life experiences. Therapy is not one size fits all, and it is because of this that I work passionately to collaborate with my clients in tailoring a unique treatment plan that works for them and their specific needs. I strive to cultivate a secure, accepting, and comfortable environment in which my clients can trust that they will be heard, respected, and treated with the utmost compassion.

My primary areas of interest lie in LGBTQIA+ issues, Self Esteem issues, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Depression and Grief. I believe that a skilled therapist should have a large toolbox and as such I seek to find creative ways to integrate multiple modalities into my client’s treatment. Some of my specific modalities of interest are Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

I have experience working with a wide variety of backgrounds and populations. Specifically, I have worked with clients who have suffered from traumatic brain injuries, helping them to overcome obstacles like anxiety, depression and finding meaning within new circumstances. I have led groups on the understanding and treatment of Social Anxiety Disorder, breaking down stigma and normalizing the experience. I have had the opportunity to work with clients overcoming grief, assisting them in learning how to navigate life through finding meaning in their loss. I have collaborated with LGBTQIA+ clients, empowering them to explore and understand what it means to be different in a heteronormative world and how that affects them. Additionally, I have worked in a lab that conducted research and published articles on prevalent psychological topics within the LGBTQIA+ community, specifically on intimate partner violence.

Hi there! You can call me Benny. I work with individuals across the lifespan, with a particular focus on teens and young adults navigating emotional and relational challenges. I frequently support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, and the effects of relationship/family conflict, such as divorce. I specialize in treating a range of addictions and unhealthy dependencies that include substance and behavioral addiction. My approach is empathetic, collaborative, and person-centered. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you will feel heard, validated, and empowered to effect change. Additionally, I incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques to help clients recognize unhelpful patterns and strengthen coping skills. Other therapy modalities I use are internal family systems and attachment therapy. Together, we will identify obstacles to your growth and develop practical tools to help you move toward a more meaningful life.
